Louise Moody, M.D.
An Alabama native, Dr. Moody attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Family Practice at Georgetown and is Board-certified in both Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. She has worked at many area emergency departments and is a Civil Surgeon. She is also a Medical Review Officer (MRO). Dr. Moody began her medical training in Mexico, is interested in travel medicine, and enjoys conversing in Spanish with our Hispanic patients.

Martin T. Liss, M.D.
Dr. Liss grew up in the Bethesda area, attending Walt Whitman High School. After completing an undergraduate degree in microbiology at the University of Maryland, Dr. Liss graduated from Georgetown Medical School and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Washington Hospital Center. He is a Civil Surgeon and is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Ambulatory Medicine. He is also an FAA-certified Aviation Medical Examiner - and a pilot himself - and a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO).

Carianne Blomquist, D.O.
Dr. Blomquist grew up in Nevada and completed her undergraduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Nevada at Reno. She earned a Masters' degree from Boston University and completed her medical education at Midwestern University-Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Illinois. She moved to the Washington, D. C. area to join the Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Practice Residency Program as a resident in Family Practice. She is board-certified in Family Practice, and her medical interests include women's health and prenatal care.

Kisha Davis, M.D.
A Maryland native with strong ties to Gaithersburg, Dr. Davis completed her undergraduate education at Duke University. After finishing her medical studies at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, she returned to the area to do a family practice residency at the University of Maryland. During that time she honed her Spanish language skills on an elective in Costa Rica, and her final year in Baltimore was spent as Chief Resident. She has experienced medicine world wide, having traveled to Honduras and Zimbabwe on medical missionary trips, as well as to New Orleans to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Dr. Davis’s medical interests include diabetes, public health and volunteering time with the Maryland Academy of Family Practice.

Aynn Dempsey, PA-C
After studying biology at Stonehill College, Ms. Dempsey worked three years as a cancer researcher before attending the George Washington University Physician Assistant Program. She received a Master's degree in Health Sciences, completed her training as a physician assistant and worked at the George Washington University Student Health Service and MedStar Research Institute of Washington Hospital Center before joining Secure Medical Care. Her medical interests include women's health and dermatology.

Helene Fisher, M.D.
Dr. Fisher graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Psychology and attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her residency was in Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, and she is Board-certified in Emergency Medicine. Before joining Secure Medical Care, she worked for 9 years in a busy, high acuity urgent care center in Palo Alto, CA. Her medical interests include acute care medicine, respiratory illnesses, and trauma.

Jamal Gwathney, M.D.
A native of Newark, NJ, Dr. Gwathney completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Maryland and earned his MD degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. During a year off from medical school he earned a Masters of Public Health at Loma Linda University School of Public Health in Calif. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Gwathney is Board-certified in Family Medicine and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has traveled the world on medical missions (as well as for pleasure) and is currently an officer in the United States Public Health Service.

Jocelyn Hines, M.D.
An honors graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Dr. Hines earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she was elected to the Humanism Honors Society. She completed her residency in Family Practice at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, and was selected Chief Resident in her final year. She counts as one of her most memorable experiences the medical missionary trip she made to Nigeria during her residency and includes similar international travel as a future goal. She is Board-certified in Family Practice.

Norval Rios, M.D.
Dr. Rios is a Takoma Park native who graduated from Columbia Union College and completed his medical education at Loma Linda University in California. He finished a residency in internal medicine and returned to the Washington, D.C. area to work in private practice, emergency medicine, and urgent care. He is Board-certified in Urgent Care Medicine and a fluent Spanish speaker.

Richard Samuel, M.D.
Dr. Samuel, originally from India, completed his residency in Internal Medicine in a Medical College of Pennsylvania program, serving his final year as Chief Resident. For the past sixteen years he has practiced medicine as an emergency room and occupational health physician in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. Selected as "Physician of the Year" at the INOVA Emergency Department, Dr. Samuel is Board-certified in Ambulatory Medicine and a certified Medical Review Officer.

Lana Smith, PA-C
Ms. Smith attended St. Mary's College of Maryland and graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Alderson-Broaddus College, West Virginia. She has worked as a physician assistant in pediatrics, surgery, and internal medicine/family practices for more than ten years. Her special medical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents.

Marie Tsurgeon, PA-C
Ms. Tsurgeon has been a board-certified Physician Assistant for 20 years. A Maryland resident, she is originally from Haiti and moved to New York City as a young girl. She received her B.S. degree in Physician Assistant studies from Touro College, New York.  After graduating, Ms. Tsurgeon worked as a general and neurosurgery physician assistant for several hospitals in the New York metropolitan area for nearly a decade. She has worked in urgent care medicine for the past eight years, including five years in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently, Ms. Tsurgeon splits her time working in both urgent care and neurosurgery facilities.

Irene Vangsness, PA-C
Irene Vangsness is a board-certified Physician Assistant and a 1982 graduate of The George Washington University. She has been a PA for twenty-four years, working primarily in general family medicine, but she also has experience in clinical research and adolescent medicine. Special areas of interest are women's health and child development.

Doug Warren, M.D.
Dr. Warren joined Secure Medical Care after many years on the teaching faculty of the family practice residency programs at Travis and Andrews Air Force Bases. Originally from Sacramento, California, he completed his undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s College in California and earned his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda. After completing a residency in Family Practice at Travis AFB, he went on to pursue his interests in aerospace medicine and hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Warren is board-certified in Family Practice, and retired from the Air Force in 2005.

Caroline Wellbery, M.D.
Dr. Wellbery received her medical degree from the University of California in San Francisco, after graduating from Reed College in Oregon and pursuing graduate studies in literature at Stanford University. She completed her residency in Family Practice at the Community Hospital, Santa Rosa, CA. She is Board-certified in Family Practice and is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Georgetown University, where she joined the faculty in 1994, initially as a fellow in medical editing. Her interests include women's health issues, serving Spanish-speaking patients, and patient education.
